Well made but with shortcomings
The toaster seems well made. I have used it thus far only for toasting English Muffins. It took a very long time to only slightly brown one edge of the muffins and to make matters worse, it did not raise the muffins high enough to grab without burning my fingers.
I also called KitchenAid in an attempt to learn how long the toast or whatever was being toasterd would be toasting with the various timing settings, 2-6. There is no answer to that question. It seems that there is more than time involved with the "time" or light/dark settings, that bread type and thickness are also involved.
Something else I found irritating is that when one muffin is placed in one side, the toast immediately begins lowering. Both halves of a muffin or both slices of bread must be put in simultaneously. This is fine for bread but is a shortcoming for slightly out-of--round English muffins.
The toaster will be returned. Toasting muffins in a $300 toaster should not...
I would buy this one again.
This is an awesome toaster, very well made (as it should be for the price). 2 complaints, one minor, when you put bread or a bagel in it it dings, which sounds similar to our door bell, which sets my dogs barking, not good at 5:30 in the morning, and I can't figure how to turn of the dinger. The other complaint, I like my toast dark and if I am toasting a moist whole grain bread, even the darkest setting isn't enough.
Otherwise it's great, I especially like the keep warm feature, and the ability to toast 2 different breads at different settings at the same time.
Over all a good choice.
Absolute overpriced garbage!!
What a waste of money! This was the third overpriced KitchenAid toaster we tried
You would think we would have learned our
lesson! We kept trying because
the brand
is usually great. model-broke within 1 month. The cost
to repair it cost more than buying 2 cheap toasters. STAY AWAY!!!
