Green Star Complete Juice Extractor GS-2000

good at some things, not at others
This was my first juicer, so I have no basis for comparison except what the manufacturer claims. You cannot juice wheatgrass with this, that is a blatant lie. you will get so much more foam than juice you will wish that you had driven to a juice bar and paid for them to do it, plus now you have to clean it again.

It juices things like carrots, jicama, green leaves and celery very well. The tougher and harder the veggie, the better this thing is. It absolutely cannot juice things like citrus, tomatoes, and even most apples will cause it to clog up quickly. It is so so at juicing cucumber. It is recommended that if you need to juice apples or cukes, switch off with a piece of carrot to push it all through.

I tried making almond butter several times, and it comes out looking like bread crumbs. I ran it through a bunch of times, and eventually it resembled almond "dough", cetrainly nothing creamy that could be called "almond butter" by any definition...

Powerhouse machine
I love this machine. I use in quite often to make a variety of juice drinks. Yes it is a bit of a chore to clean, but if you do it right away and get into a rountine in only takes about 10 minutes to get it done. I love that it doesn't heat the juice so that the enzymes are still alive. I also got a pump n seal so that I can put the juice in mason jars and vacuum pack them so it last longer. I juice a big batch of "green lemonade" (see Natalia Rose THe Raw Food Detox Diet) about twice a week and make other drinks when desired. I am looking forward to making nut butters as well. I have also used the pulp in some other recipes and the remainder goes in my compost pile (boy does it break down fast as pulp!) Enjoy!

Reliable heavy duty machine for the serious juicer
I've been using this juicer for 10 months, about 4 times a week. I love it. It's quiet. You can carry on a normal conversation while the machine is running. Juices slowly at a cool temperature. Makes minimal foam. Squeezes the pulp dry. You don't waste so much as with the non-gear driven kind. You don't need another machine to do different stuff. E.g., it handles fresh ginger as easily as carrots. Yes, it has several parts to disassemble to clean, but it's very easy to do - 10-15 min - and re-assembly is idiot-proof. I'm very happy with the Green Star.
