Nut Butter
I have read reviews (on several sites) that mentioned how this product broke after one use, how it was extremely ineffective in chopping nuts, how the dough blade leaves more to be desired, and how food getting under the blade pushed it up rendering it useless. I ALMOST didn't buy the product, but I am a victim of "I want it now!!!!" and didn't want to get either of the other two choices at the store I was in (an 8 cup 450 watt or a 14 cup 550 watt with worse reviews). So, I bought it (yesterday). I noticed the top was broken before I got it out of the package (exchanged it today). Ladies and gentlemen, that is the only negative thing I have to say about this product. As my title would suggest, I bought it for the initial purpose of making nut butters. It chopped my raw almonds down to flour in mere seconds. It could almost be confused for a magic trick. I let it continue (without adding anything) until it smoothed into almond butter as creamy as peanut butter. As you can imagine, the...
Versatile
This machine works great! the price is Terrific, the Extras are great. The Size is great for big stuff. Unlike many of the smaller ones this one has a very large mouth you can put whole onions in and slice, the 2 work bowls are nice to work with. The only reason i Give 4 of 5 is because this thing is very loud. The only thing i found that was close to what this offers for the price was a Hamilton Beach product at a local department store. The Hamilton beach felt cheap, looked cheap and was cheap. The work bowl on that unit didn't even lock in place, just flopped around, where as this Faberware locks in and has a good feel to it. comes with all the blades you need, and costs the same. I was weary buying this unit because of the 2 negative reviews, but i took a chance here and I am glad I did, I am not sure what the other 2 reviewers had trouble with on this machine. I know one was using it to grind soap... as this is a food processor i discounted the users review as not using this for...
Died after one use
I purchased this in April, 2012 and used it once with no problem. The next time I went to use it (2 months later) I plugged it in and none of the lights came on to indicate it had power. I contacted the customer service # provided on the website and was told to send a description of the problem, reference the transaction #, along with my contact information, and to cut the plug off of my defective unit and mail it to the address they provided. Having done that, I am now awaiting a Black and Decker FP2500, since I was told they have no Farberware repalcements in stock.
