Rival 18-Ounce Electric Gravy Boat Warmer

Stylish, excellent design, and so versatile!
This is much more than a slow cooker gravy boat! I experimented cooking a small amount of tiny shell macaroni and it worked! I only used an amount of water that would be absorbed as I was planning to add cheese and it was done in about 10 minutes.

The lid probably helped a lot, so I know it will keep gravy nice and warm, especially if added when hot from the cooking source. It should also easily warm syrup without first heating the syrup elsewhere and would melt butter in a few minutes maximum.

The bottom inside of the boat is an oval, roughly 4" x 2", therefore concentrating the heat over a small area at first, which also surely helped in my makeshift application. The area widens in a taper towards the top to approximately 7" x 4" and the contents will need stirring if you are heating food rather than liquids.

The base enclosure gets hot, but not too hot to touch briefly, and if you leave the boat in the base, the contents would certainly remain...

Dual Use Gravy Boat
This Slow Cooker Gravy Boat is great! The gravy boat can be plugged in to keep warm, then unplugged for serving, retaining enought heat to keep the gravy warm during the meal.

We are planning to use this also as a small fondue pot. I liked it so much after I purchased it that I ordered three more for my married children.

Bought two - Both have blemishes ;/
They work well, really well.. you can even cook in them.. but both of mine have noticeable blemishes! ..And one is a gift for my mother-in-law.. yikes! Shipping took over TWO WEEKS.. so that's why i'm giving them 4 stars.. work great..look mediocre, SLOW shipping! Made me wonder if these are seconds or what?! I will not buy from P**stein company again! No answer to e-mails or even a phone call, no tracking, either. Not good.

Continental CE23451 4 Slice Toaster, White

It's Ok
Nothing too fancy. It gets the job done. My bread is toasted and I am satisfied. Nothing too fantastic or too bad about it.

What you See is What you Get
I had just "deep-sixed" a fairly sophisticated 4-slice toaster, because one of the levers wouldn't stay down and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. It seems to me that across the years this is one small electrical appliance that really hasn't advanced that much. It still consists, basically, of a single or double set of flimsy electric coils encased in a variety of housings with a variety of "bells and whistles". Anyway, I decided that this time I would buy an inexpensive model, and simply bite the bullet and buy an other one as/when it gave up the ghost. So far this toaster has worked pretty much as I expected i.e. it tends to toast unevenly, and if the bread/English muffin, whatever, is doughy or moist, you will (not unreasonably) have to give it a couple of shots, even on the highest setting. All this said, I got what I paid for and I am satisfied with my purchase.

Portable Refrigerator Freezer - 63 Qt. - EdgeStar

Portable Freezer 64 qts
It wore out after a year and the warranty. Kept food frozen but I hoped for a long life given the expense. Portable edgestar freezer. would not even give it a two stars.

DC cable does NOT WORK
My husband and I took our new Portable Fridge from EdgeStar for a test drive. There was a problem before we got out of the driveway. The DC power plug Wouldn't stay in the DC outlet in our Toyota Sieana Minivan. If I held it in, the fridge would go on, let go and in went off.

I called the Customer Service number at CompactAppliance where we purchased it. He informed me the problem was with my CAR, not the plug! When I told him all other DC plugs have worked (Cell charger etc.) he still insisted there is no problem with the DC plug or cord. I asked for a new cord but he said that it was a $45.00 cord and no way would they send that to me for free. He was rude and condescending. I asked to speak to a supervisor or tech support. He refused and said we could just return the unit. I ended up hanging up on him in anger and frustration. I spliced the cord myself and it works. I like the unit but would NOT recommend buying it from CompactAppliance, if you can help it,...

EdgeStar FP630 Freezer/Refrigerator
I've owned this FP630 unit for three months and have only one issue with it. I like the refrigerator/freezer itself very much, and it has worked well on AC current. However, the 12v connection cable is defective.

I ordered the longer 12v cable and it was defective also. In order to use DC current as your power supply you need to cut off the male plug (that plugs into your 12v power source) and replace it with a 10A, 12v DC plug you can find at Radio Shack for $5.99.

It's a PITA but you have no option per my call to the EdgeStar Factory representative. The problem with the 12v cables is that the male plug on the cable is defective in that its retention springs, that hold the plug into the wall or vehicle socket, are too weak the it will very easily move out of the socket enough to break the connection with the wall power source. And, in a motorhome or vehicle, you have constant vibration which adds to the problem of your connection being unreliable...

Braun K3000 220 to 240-volt 3-in-1 Kitchen Center, 50Hz, Includes Mixer/Blender and Food Processor

Fantastic kitchen machine!
I love this machine. Really love it. For me, since I have limited storage space in my kitchen, the best "selling point" was that it's one machine with three functions: blender, mixer and food processor. It's easy to use, easy to clean (dishwasher!) and makes working in the kitchen easy and fun.

Brilliant
This machine can handle anything. It is powerful and versatile. It can cut french fries, make any kind of dough imaginable, mix meat for meatloaves, and lots more. It has lots of power and is easy to clean. We absolutely love it.

very good product
Had one for over 20 years and still working so i bought this one for a friend and i have also introduced it tosome of my other friends

nice looking and quiet
Better than expected in quiet and looks. Fit into a small space without looking cheap. It holds more than we expected. Though it is only one zone, we still put both red and white in and it acts to pre chill the white particularly in the summer.

Nice product
Very nice wine fridge, so far operates as advertised. Shelves look a little crooked from afar, also wish it held more large wine bottles, but other than that it looks great in our new kitchen.

Cuisinart TTG-500 Two-to-Go Coffeemaker

Overall, good and quick
I bought this for the purpose that the machine was designed for, drinking coffee on the go. It's not the traditional coffeemaker that's used for sipping coffee while lounging around reading the newspaper on a Saturday morning. But, it's very convenient, since there is no carafe to wash or worry about. It's also a quick brewing maker. The coffee tastes very good, but don't expect to let it sit there since there's no hot plate. I suggest brewing it right before you leave and put the thermos top on right away. The machine is the bare minimum in bells and whistles (one button, the on or brew button). The two thermos' are very nice and keep the beverage fresh and warm for usually 2-3 hours. The only complaint that I have about the whole product is the thermos tops though. They are very tricky to drink out of without dribbling... a bad thing if you're driving in traffic, and one that could have embarrasing consequences on your pants or shirt if you're going straight to work. If you can...

Great coffeemaker- just a couple of minor suggestions...
My husband and I found this at a store at a very reduced price, and decided to pick it up. We have a traditional coffeemaker already but my husband finds that he usually does not drink the entire pot of coffee, so he winds up with a lot of wasted coffee. Pluse we figured that at the price we were getting it for, it was worth the price for the two stainless commuter mugs alone.
I am very impressed by how well this works. The coffee comes out tasting very good, and it's very fast. Due to the ease of making coffee with this machine I even find myself drinking coffee a lot more often than I used to- I used to NEVER drink coffee.
However, I do have a couple of minor suggestions to Cuisinart for future editions of this coffeemaker: it would be really helpful if the base had some kind of warming feature. Since these mugs have stainless steel surfaces they cannot be microwaved, so if you can't drink the coffee immediately it would be nice if there was a warming element on the...

Two to Go. One bigger than the other.
Many things about the design are good, especially its simplicity. There is one area, however, where a little more complexity may have paid off. Even before I brewed the first batch, I was curious about how the unit would evenly distribute the coffee between the mugs. The answer is: Not well.

The mechanism for separating the two streams of coffee is a sloping divider that peaks below where the coffee drips from the filter funnel. Half of the coffee is supposed to find its way down one side and half should go down the other. Does that happen? Not in the 6 batches I've brewed since receiving this as a gift.

I have always found that one cup is almost twice as full as the other. Watch out if you are planning to brew two full cups, one will overflow if you are not carefull. I'm thinking of putting a few matchbooks under one side to see if that evens out the distribution. Talk about your jury-rigs.

Ok, I will concede that it make a good, hot cup of coffee that stays hot for a...

Continental Electrics 32 Ounce Hot Pot

Dangerous Product, do not buy
I thought about getting a hot pot to boil water for my coffee instead of using the microwave and I limped in with this $10 purchase. The idea is sound and I will be buying another hot pot but this products was a waste of money. After the first week I started seeing an orange ring around the bottom hot plate, I later found out this was rust, which I have been drinking. After two weeks the unit would only work intermittent. I figured while moving it around water came out of the bottom. I took it apart and realized that the plastic pot interfaces with the hot metal heating element at a cheap silicone seal that had failed. Also the heating element had rusted up between the seal and the metal.

There's no doubt that if I had continued to use this it would have been possible that water could have seeped out and I could have grounded on it and gotten a good shock. Do not buy this. Amazon should remove it.

Doesn't boil anymore!
When I first got this hot pot (to make pasta in my dorm room), it worked great. However, after about 2 or 3 weeks of use, it does not cook the noodles right anymore. It has stopped boiling while the noodles are in the water (as it used to do perfectly). It seems to only heat to a certain point, even though I am careful to avoid overfilling it. It's strange because it worked perfectly when I got it.

Disappointed in this product
It looked good, and initially I was quite pleased with it as to appearance and the way it would quickly boil water. However, right from the first, the non-stick whtie surface of the pot would flake off into the water in small pieces. I had to be constantly removing these little pieces before pouring the water into my tea cup. I never used anything in it except water. I am sorry that I cannot recommend it. I was able to return it without question and received a refund. The transaction was completely satisfactory, but this particular pot was not.

Smart Planet CDM-2 Pigs in a Blanket Maker

Great for gluten free treats
I bought this feeling a little blind--there were no reviews and the product information didn't indicate how big the finished product is. I've used the mini-donut maker Smart Planet MCM-1 Mini Cupcake Maker before and read all the reviews for the corn dog maker Smart Planet CDM-1 Corn Dog Maker which helped me make my decision to purchase this product.

I've used it twice--the first time I used gluten free waffle batter, the second time I made gluten free corn bread some with diced up hot dogs. Each well holds 2-3 tablespoons of batter. If the wells aren't filled enough the tops don't brown. If they are filled too full the batter runs out and connects the wells, which wasn't a problem as the batter still cooks. Clean up was easy.

These make great little finger foods. I love that I don't have to heat up the oven to have...

Love This Machine!!
This little machine is the best invention ever! I can't believe I was making mini corn dogs by hand in a Fry Daddy for my daughter who has numerous food allergies...now I just whip a batch of corn dogs or pizza rolls whenever she feels like having them and there is no mess to clean up. Great directions and suggestions included.

SO MUCH FUN!!
I totally agree with the other reviewers, this is a wonderful machine. I just received the machine and have made four helpings of mini corn dogs. It is not rocket science. The first time I placed the batter into the small cells, it leaked a tad, but not too much to be a problem. The next three times were a breeze. Yes, you have to cut the hot dogs in smaller pieces, but SO, just a few seconds to accomplish this feat. It is so fun to use and once the cooking is complete, you smile at your accomplishment. View my mini corn dog photos above.

Browne Foodservice 573324 Stainless Steel Standard Disher with Red Handle, 1-3/4-Ounce, Size 24

Ok for the price
I have to keep working on it to get it to work. Worked when I needed it to, but not anymore.

Love it! Not for ice cream
This is the size disher you need for normal muffins. One scoop = one muffin. Works great with thicker batters. Goes into the dishwasher. The sprocket is sturdier than the one I had on my old one that looked like this: Norpro Stainless Steel Scoop, 50mm (3-Tablespoon).

People call these things ice cream scoopers. The reason I had to buy this was because somebody used my old one on rock-hard Haagen Daz. NO. NO. NO. It would probably work with softened ice cream, but that never happens at my house. I've threatened people with bodily harm if they try my new toy on ice cream.

I'll definitely replace my smaller scooper with this brand when it finally breaks.

Doesn't Work
I was excited to find a 1 3/4 oz size disher, as it's the perfect size to scoop out cupcake batter. Well, my excitement was short lived. I tried it out for the first time today and the band in the scooper gets stuck in the middle. I even washed it and tried it again without scooping up anything. No luck. This makes it useless to use as a scooper. Now I either have to take the time to ship it back, or lose the $$ I invested in it.

Whynter ICM-15LS Ice Cream Maker, Stainless Steel

Worth Every Penny -- If you're serious about making frozen desserts, read on.
If you want to make truly amazing frozen desserts at home, you not only need good recipes -- you also need good equipment to get the job done. This machine is just that. For years I attempted making ice cream, sorbet and other frozen desserts with a model that was mostly plastic and required freezing a disk for at least 24 hours prior. The results were mixed at best and frustrating: often somewhat tasty but textures were nothing like I had hoped (either icy hard or soupy) and certainly nothing like I'd get from a store. I'd make a few batches each summer and quickly lose interest. This machine, which I've only had for about a month, produces results that have not only met my standards for what a frozen dessert should be, but at times have pleasantly surprised me and surpassed my expectations. And when was the last time you saw Fig and Port gelato at the supermarket?

I decided to give it another shot this summer when I had seen a sale on a Cuisinart model at Williams...

I can't imagine there being a better ice-cream maker for the home
Absolutely divine. This is my first home ice-cream machine. I made my first batch on Saturday night, expecting the consistency of soft-serve ice-cream. I was shocked to find that the ice-cream's texture was just like the Super-Premium store bought ice-cream! (Of course, it was a little softer close to the center column that the blades attach to) But for the most part, the ice-cream was creamy and absolutely the texture that I never thought I could achieve with a homemade ice-cream machine. I did ALOT of research before buying this machine, and I'm pleased to know that all that research paid off. I highly recommend this machine.

Cranks out Consistent Frozen Desserts
In short, worth the money to make small (1.5 qt or less) batches of frozen Custard, Ice Cream, Sorbet, Gelato. Requires no forethought, just plug it in and add your chilled mix and go.

I have made frozen custard, ice cream, gelato, sorbet, and sherbet in this and it all turned out spectacularly! Not sure what recipe the others who had poor results are using, but there may be some minor differences that kept theirs from turning out. I suggest using a recipe tuned for this type of mixer, perhaps from Lebovitz's book "Perfect Scoop" or the Americas Test kitchen recipes, they both use the Cuisinart version of this machine. I also agree with the other reviewer, sometimes a small touch of alcohol in the Sorbet can have good effects, even in ice cream too - both of the recipe sources I mentioned will back this up too.

Basically, make your custard, your gelato or your sorbet base, cool it down in the fridge (I even use the freezer sometimes to save time) and then...

Excellent Milk Shake Maker
The hamilton beach classic drinkmaster in an excellent addition to your kitchen appliance setup if you like milk shakes. I have hunted a long time for a quality milkshake maker and this one makes them just as good as they come. The appliance itself is made of sturdy construction, and the cup itself is made of some type of spun aluminum i guess, its not going to break anytime soon. This milk skake maker incorporates air into the mixture and gives it a really good texture as you drink it. Easily drinkable through a straw such as the ones you would get from a fast food place. Have used mine for a good two years, really putting it through its paces during the summer time for myself, friends and family. If it ever broke i would definately buy another one again. Excellent product and works as described.

ice cream
i'm a thick thick malt lover and this machine doesn't do it. the ice cream has to be sort of soft and more milk than normal. other than that its ok

Good and bad
It's easy and convenient but doesn't mix very well or very fast. Easy to clean. Doesn't take up much room on counter

NEW cutting blade knife for Vintage Metal Kitchenaid Mixer meat grinder

What a difference!!!
Didn't realize how dull my blade was until I got a new one. Incredibly fast shipping and a GREAT product. I now use my grinder all the time.

Great Blade
I added this one to my collection for using in the kitchen. It is a good piece to have when cutting meat up with my Kitchenaid grinding set. Not flimsy, not cheaply made and strong made metal. I definitely would buy it again for my grinder and add to my collection so I can see what is in the ground meat that I grind up and not buy something the store says is a certain percent of this and that.

Hard to find as a replacement for old kitchenaid food grinders
I was pleased to finally find this replacement cutting blade knife for Vintage Metal Kitchenaid meat and food grinder. There's not much to say except it works exactly like the original one.

MaxiMatic EKA-9210B Elite Cuisine 4-Slice Toaster Oven Broiler, Black

Not great but better than most
It is getting harder to find a good small toaster oven at almost any price. We had a GE toaster oven that was purchased in the late 1970's. It fit on a 10' deep shelf and took very little space. The rack pulled out when the door was opened had a shiny chrome interior which made great toast and it lasted almost 30 years. When it finally died, we looked for a replacement. The only one that fit in the space we wanted looked almost the same as our old GE. It was a Black and Decker unit and it only lasted a year before the top element burnt out. It also was built very cheaply.
We shopped around and read some good reviews on the Maxi Matic. Price was good and it actually didn't have a cheap feel to it like the B&D. It makes great toast. Heats up fast and is easy to clean. It has quartz elements that seem pretty sturdy. That is the good part. The trade off is that the toasting is regulated by a timer, not a sensor. There isn't a temperature control for baking. The heating...

It does what it promises
I bought this on Amazon to replace a series of Black & Decker toaster ovens which kept dying over the years. I wasn't sure of what to expect when this arrived, but I've been using it daily for the past 2 months, and I am pleased with its performance.

The upper knob controls which heating elements are on: top, bottom or both. I use "both" for general toasting, and "top" to melt cheese on my English muffin in the morning.

The lower knob controls how long the elements are on. The off position is 12 o'clock. If you turn it to the right, it acts as a timer knob, and shuts off and rings a bell when it reaches 12 o'clock. The further to the right you turn it, the longer the elements stay on. If you turn the knob to the left, it only turns to 11 o'clock, and causes the elements to stay on until you manually turn the knob back to 12 o'clock.

That's the extent of the controls. Extremely simple.

One thing I found was that the metal tray supplied with...

Love this toaster oven !
I LOVE this toaster oven--because it HEATS UP SO QUICKLY. I know that some buyers commented
that their toast browned too much when on medium. This is true--I set the dial
for LIGHT to have regular toast. But,I would MUCH RATHER have a FAST HEATING toaster oven for all
uses-- than one which takes so long to toast or heat-up. This is the first toaster oven I've had
which heated up and toasted, baked, warmed, cooked quickly. I HIGHY RECOMMEND IT.

HealthMaster Elite Fruit & Vegetable Emulsifier by Montel Williams

MY BAD LUCK OR A BAD PRODUCT ???!!!!!
To be clear, I purchased this Health Master Elite II (Montel's blender) from the Montel Health Master website. The blender stopped working after two months of light use. I only made fruit smoothies which only requires to run the blender for one minute to make a smoothie. So the combined time for that two month period was approx 35 minutes. The motor appears to have stopped working, as an electrician that has installed numerous motors over a 30 year career, this is a sign of a bad motor/product. Well, fine, just thought that I would send it back for a replacement/refund. This process started out fine but has turned into a large debacle. It has been two months since I started this "return" process and still am stuck with the blender. It started out with them saying a "return" authorization would be sent to me in the mail. This "return" paper is a UPS prepaid shipping label to be clear. Over this two month period I have not received this "return" authorization , Montel's people say they...

Gerber 22-41846 DF6 Compact Sharpener

Good but Not Great Sharpener
I've only used it a few times but it worked well. Its made of several interleaved spring fingers about 3/8" wide with diamond grit on them. It takes a few tries to get the hang of using it. If my memory serves it creates a 35 degree edge. The gerber knifes I tried all sharpened easily and I'm guessing they already start with this angle on their edge. The chinese knives I tried took 8 or 9 swipes before the edge really started to form. Short knives, 1 1/2 " or less, don't work well with this sharpener.

Good for a portable sharpener
This little sharpener is good for on the go sharpening, in that it is small, compact and light. I sketch and paint outdoors, at times in wilderness areas, so I keep it in my art bag in case I need to sharpen a knife on the spot. It would also fit in a pocket. It does a good job of putting a workable edge of a knife, provided the knife does not need grinding. By "grinding" I mean the knife is really dull and you need to start from scratch to achieve an edge that can be sharpened with a little hand-held device. You can use this sharpener on really dull knives, but I think you'll be in for a long sharpening session. But for knives in reasonable shape, with a serviceable edge on them, this sharpener will hone them to a usable sharpness and pretty quickly.

Good but not for a small knife
This sharpener is well made and sharpens a knife blade well but for small knifes it has a big flaw. You can't seem to get the last 1/2 inch or so against the handle sharpened. For a long blade that wouldn't matter but I mostly use small pocket knives and missing a quarter of the blade is isn't good.

Proctor Silex 24605 4-Slice Toaster

A Nice-Sized Toaster
We purchased this toaster based mostly on its size and appearance. I had brought home a couple of others which just did not fit my space. One was too tall and came too close to the cabinet above it, and one took up too much space on the counter. The Proctor Silex 4-Slice Toaster is compact and attractive and on top of that, it toasts the bread very well. It doesn't have a lot of frills, but does toast bagels as well as bread, and that's what we were interested in. It is much more reasonably priced than almost any other brand. If it has any drawbacks, it's that it seems a little light in weight. Although we've had it for only a month, we are quite satisfied with it.

New Base Model Poorer than Previous One
Based on a Consumer's Report review, last year I purchased an inexpensive Proctor-Silex 4 slice toaster, which was as reviewed--wonderful. I needed another such toaster and purchased the one for which these comments are directed--it appears to have replaced the earlier base model. But this one is hardly as good as its predecessor.

The sliding crumb trays have vanished as has the light that one can push to raise the toast before it automatically pops up. And it is not that easy to push the lever down again if the toast needs additional browning. It appears that the toaster needs to cool down a bit before the lever will stay down. And...it takes longer to brown the bread.

It is terrible.

Proctor Silex 24605 4 Slice Toaster
Toasts OK, but doesn't have a cancel button if you set it too long, you have to pull the plug out of the wall receptacle!!!!!

Oster 6331 Inspire 2-Slice Toaster, White

How hard is it to make toast?
With this toaster, actually very hard.

For plain, standard-size bread, this toaster performs so-so. The toasting is not very even- almost as if one or two of the heating elements aren't actually heating. I've looked inside while the machine is active and all *appear* to be functioning, but alas, it just doesn't even come close to toasting evenly.

The real issue with this toaster is the carriage, the little ledge that raises and lowers the toast. I guess someone at Oster decided that they could save money by making the metal piece slightly smaller, but what happens is that whatever you're toasting (pop tarts *especially*) slide off one side and then become impinged inside the toaster when the carriage pops up. This usually results in ten minutes spent digging out pop tart chunks with a fork. (After the toaster had been unplugged, of course!) Some of these chunks then stay caught in the unit because they are too big to filter down to the crumb tray...

Flimsy make.
Bought this toaster a year ago and have had problems with it since the very beginning. When making toast, it would feel like the lever wasn't catching and so wouldn't work. Today, it finally gave out. I won't buy another one. Also, a bright blue light on the front face of the toaster is annoying, especially at night. And was bright enough to shine right into my bedroom. I usually left it unplugged.

Stylish looks but lackluster performance
This thing is hungrier for Pop Tarts than I am. Even with precision placement, the ejection of the Pop Tart sends it hurdling upward only to land wedged between the guide rails and the toast carriage. Once stuck a full cool down period is in order for a complete and safe removal. The toast carriage is not sufficiently wide to fill the width of the slot allowing narrow items to slip by. It's also designed for bagels, but don't cut them to thick or they won't fit. If you wanted your toast evenly toasted on both sides, then you better look elsewhere. The heating coils are definitely hotter on the outside than the center and this affects both slots. It has nice blue lighted buttons and they are great for guiding in small aircraft to you countertop. Another nice feature is the spark you get when plugging it in, and that's when it off. Glad to see they were able to get this to work on 120 volts rather 240 volts that's usually required for all these fine features.

VillaWare V5555-01 6-Inch Mickey Wafflemaker

mickey mouse pancaker
This is advertised as a waffle maker, but it is not. There is not a ridge or waffle involved. It is a pancake form of Mickey Mouse. The old version which was discontinued was a waffler, and photo they use shows the waffle that the previous item produced. The new Mickey Mouse Waffler would not show up well since there is no depth to the facial features, and there is only a hint of an outline of the face of Mickey Mouse.

If you truly want a waffle maker this is not one.

Worth it
This product is a lot of fun.

A bell would be nice to tell you when it's done but no big deal. Shouldn't be walking out of the kitchen with something like this on anyway. You do hear a click when the light turns on.

We use a large water bottle to dispense the batter. That way you can squeeze it out of a small opening and distribute it evenly.

cute, fun, functional
Not just a novelty toy, this waffler makes perfect Mickey-shaped waffles within minutes. Fun to make and eat; not just for kids. Red indicator light tells you when to start baking and when the waffle is done. Easy to clean and store. Only drawback is that, because of the smooth surface pattern, the waffle seems more of a pancake texture than a crisp thick traditional waffle.

Eventually we will try making whoopie pies. Debated whether to purchase one that made four at a time but decided on this one which is smaller. Glad we did because cooking time is quick and the smaller size is easier to store

VacMaster VP210C Dry Piston Pump Chamber Machine, Metallic

Seals food with liquids, but has a small learning curve to use it
I am a home cook and have been cooking food sous vide, but the standard external sealers always pull moisture/liquids up and out of the bag which is very frustrating. The VP210 chamber allows you to seal bags with none to alot of liquid. However, there is a learning curve, and I had to call technical support a couple of times to get the machine set up correctly, but once it is set up, it works great. I am able to seal meats and liquids in the machine without a problem.
The first machine that I received was dented on a back corner and the cover of the machine was set too low so it was impossible to plug it in. Amazon overnighted a replacement (thank you, I needed it for thanksgiving).
Then I needed to speak to technical support a couple of times to help set up the machine settings. I had to increase the the seal time of the machine up to 1.4 or 1.5... technical support said not to raise it above 1.5, but the setting as set by the factory was too short, so when the bag...

You might want to also consider....
Amazon currently has one of the best prices for this unit. I considered buying it for a while... Actually, I had a bit of indecision trying to choose between this model, the next step up (the VP215) and the next step down (VP112). The VP210 and VP215 are externally identical but the vacuum pump has been replaced with a heavier-duty, oiled pump. Because of this, it can obtain the same vacuum in about half the time as the VP210. If you look around, you can find a VP215 for under $1250.

In the end, I decided to go with the VP112. The reasoning was:

1) Mechanically, it has the same pump as the VP210. So you get the same performance and same life expectancy.
2) While the chamber is slightly shorter than the VP210, the VP112 has a 12" sealing bar so you can actually use bigger capacity bads.
3) The height between the bottom of the chamber and the sealing bar is greater on the VP112 so you can seal bags with more liquid.
4) The VP112 actually...

Expensive but awesome
I'm reviewing this from the perspective of a home user. If you are a light commercial user...it'll work fine for you, assuming the chamber is big enough and it has the features you need.

Anyway...

This is my third vacuum bagging appliance and my first chamber style unit. I am a big fan of vacuum storage, not just for prolonging the life of foods but also to infuse different flavors and create ready-to-cook meal packets for the freezer. I have played around with sous-vide cooking as well though I'm not really a regular practitioner of that art.

I bought this for my home kitchen for several reasons:
1) I make a lot of soups and sauces. I have been vacuum sealing with jars and refrigerating them; I want to be able to bag and freeze instead.
2) I wasn't satisfied with how my previous vacuum baggers (from a warehouse club) dealt with meats. I especially didn't like when they sucked meat juice into the machine, and was tired of having to...

Waring Commercial MX1200XTX Xtreme Hi-Power Variable-Speed Food Blender with Raptor Copolyester Container, 64-Ounce

Unbeatable blender!!
Vitamix or Blendtec does not come close this blender. It is in a class by itself. It is three and a half horsepower and spins at 45,000 revolutions per minute. No other blender can compete with that. While I was searching for the best blender Vitamix and Blendtec were the names that kept coming up until I searched Commercial blenders. Thats when I found the Waring MX1200XTX Xtreme. My wife and myself are very happy with this machine. We make a lot of green smoothies and with the 45,000 rpm you will never bite into a raspberry seed, lol. This blender is priced right at around $350 you cant go wrong. It turns ice in to snow in about two seconds. You can also make soups in a munute or two hot from the friction from the blade. Also, there is no tamper so you never need to push whatever your blending down to the blade. If you are looking for an amazing, well built blender- this is it. Thanks for reading. I've never written a review before but I'm just so impressed with this blender I feel...

Buy this blender
You won't find a better blender at any price. You will not be sorry. This amazing machine exceed all of our expectations.

11 Days
I purchased this blender to help me with my Paleo Diet as I am doing tons of veggies and fruits and want to get creative with new dishes in the kitchen. If you place the soft ingredients on the bottom and the rougher ones on top, the Waring will pulverize anything without the need for intervention. The only time I need to intervene is when I am making Ice Cream but I only have to plunge a couple times to get the elements moving around. I did many reviews and the Vita Mix was my second choice but I saw too many users on You Tube being forced to use the plunger for tough foods. This blender creates a hard core vortex out of everything pulling it down and spitting it back out the sides. An amazing whirlwind of destruction in the palm of your hands :). I have not had any problems with it and the times I have encountered trouble was due to user error on my part. Again stacking your fruits and veggies in the proper order will work very efficiently. You can get the cheaper version and do...

Ninja Master Prep - Black/Silver

This really works!
I needed a food processor and was doing some internet research when I came across this. I was skeptical because it was an "As Seen On TV" product. I bought it anyway since it was a food processor and a blender and felt like I was getting 2-for-1.

This thing is pretty amazing! The food processor chops food just fine. It gets 5-stars from me.

But the amazing thing is the blender! It has three blades - one at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. It blends EVERYTHING! In the informercial, they say that you can put ice into the blender and it will make "white, fluffy snow." I filled it with only ice, and lo & behold after about 30 seconds the blender had packed snow in it. Just for fun, I even made a snowball.

Today I started my annual New Years resolution diet. For breakfast I made a smoothie with fruit, yogurt, water and orange juice. I didn't have any OJ so I just put in a whole (peeled) orange. After 15 seconds, I had a smoothie that was...

Blades Got Dull VERY Fast
I thought I needed to replace my old 800 watt Oster blender because it was getting hot making green smoothies, and after all, it WAS 42 years old. I tried a new 600 watt Oster, which couldn't make smoothies smooth.

Then I looked blenders up in Consumers Reports and bought the Ninja. At first it went well. After a couple of weeks, though, I realized it was having problems smoothing things like peach peel, so I started getting concerned. Then in the 6th week I owned it, I made a Kale and Banana "smoothie", and it came out a "chewie". Now, Kale is a LEAF, and should not give anything sharp problems! I transferred it to my old machine, and even with the 3-4-year-old blades it became smooth!!

That's when I realized there was no way to replace the Ninja blades, nor sharpen them -- even if after only 6 weeks, I would have been willing to do so. Long story short: I exchanged the Ninja for $9 worth of Oster blades, the old machine is running cool, and making smooth...

I LOVE MY NINJA MASTER!!!
I haven't caved into the whole food processor gimmick because I think they just don't work/end up making the food texture too smooth/liquidy, but I was really tempted to get this during Black Friday of 2010 at Target (I think it was on sale for like 20 bucks or something), ended up being too lazy that morning and I didn't get it, but after reading so many good reviews I couldn't help myself and got it on Amazon (I think it ships from Target though...much more expensive than the BF price but still pretty cheap compared to other FPs).

LOVE IT! I will never go back to hours of chopping garlic/onion/ginger/tomatoes/carrots! I love how you can take the blades out completely and scoop out every last drop of food/smoothie and not waste anything. Careful washing the blade though, it's extremely sharp and I've sliced myself a few times on accident. Makes great ground ice for snow cones, blends up perfect smoothies super fast, and chops things in different sizes depending on how...

KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter

New dough hook is great!
I make a lot of bread using my KitchenAid mixer, and for years I have tolerated my 4.5 quart Ultra Power KitchenAid mixer. Anytime a recipe called for 6 cups of flour, I knew I would have to finish the recipe by hand. The 4.5 quart bowl just couldn't handle that much dough. I just purchased the Pro 600 with the spiral dough hook, and all I can say is WOW! The new spiral hook works totally different than the older C-hook. No longer does the dough "slap" against the side of the bowl. Instead the sprial dough hook brings the dough to the middle of the bowl for mixing and kneading. You can see how much more effective this tool is. I have already ran 5 different bread recipes through this mixer, and I haven't had to finish any of the by hand yet. Just enough to shape the dough before proofing. The 6 quart bowl is a must have for bread makers! Now I just have to figure out how to give away all this bread!

I have a lot to say!!
I still have my Kitchenaid Classic Stand Mixer for 17 years and it is still kicking, but I have wanted this newer, bigger Kitchenaid for sometime. The price was the only thing keeping me from buying. My husband convinced me that in spite of the price tag, it's a well-made machine and if it lasts as long as my Classic, it would be well worth the plunge. I checked prices all over and Amazon was the best price (especially since I got mine w/o shipping costs!). I also lucked out because I opened an Amazon account, and Kitchenaid offered a mail-in rebate!! It was a great Christmas gift to me! I purchased dark pewter which wasn't what I thought it was when I got it. I called customer service at Amazon and they couldn't have been nicer. They said that I could switch it for the correct color, no problem, since the color appeared different on the website. I decided I didn't want to wait any longer and kept the dark pewter--which still looks good with my black appliances (licorce was...

Very Disappointed
I have owned this machine for a little over a year now. Well, actually I have gone through five of these machines in the last 16 months, as each one has broken while kneading wheat dough. I use approximately 6-7 cups of wheat flour per each batch of bread. This should not be too much for this powerful machine, especially since it is advertised to handle wheat dough. I have since also had to purchase a Bosch Universal for my bread making. I have also heard excellent reports about the Electolux mixer for kneading wheat bread.

My recipe calls for a 6 minute kneading time, but each Kitchenaid got too hot and shut off after only a couple of minutes of kneading.(This time fluctuated with each machine.) I would have to wait for it too cool down. I even tried blowing a fan on one of them while it kneaded to keep it cool. It was useless.

The first time I called Kitchenaid they told me I should only knead my bread for 2 minutes at a time. This bothered me since I...

Viante CUC-16CG Cheese Grater

Not worth the money
This wasn't worth the money. It will only take a small amount of cheese and I had to put pressure to get it out. It was faster and less painfull in a hand held cheese grater.

Great quality product, but could use more power
This really is a well constructed cheese grater - works great with hard to semi-soft cheeses. It could just use more power. Even when fully charged it seems to take too long and we often simply pull out the old manual standby instead which is disappointing.

Waterbridge Electric Plate Warmer - Holds up to 6 Plates - Evening Blue

Have bought these for years
I have always had the Waterbridge Plate Warmers and have found them to be excellent and long lasting. I had to replace my last one and this time I got one in blue, it is lovely and still the same excellent product.

Barely lasted for a year
I bought the plate warmer in December of 2012 and it worked well - heating my dishes in less than 10 minutes to almost being hot.

It's now November 2013 and it just stopped working. I realize that the seller offers a 10 year limited warranty but this is just too annoying to now have to write to the seller and maybe (hopefully) get a replacement. Now that that cold season starts in New England I will be without a much needed plate warmer for a while.

I would order larger capacity instead.
I should have ordered the larger size. It doesn't heat 6 plates as well as I had expected from the description.

Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother

Cafe quality? No. Easy great-tasting froth? Yes.
Here are the most important things I think prospective buyers should know:

1. The machine does not heat the milk to scalding temperatures. You know how when you get a latte at Starbucks, it burns your mouth at first? Yeah, this doesn't do that. The milk is warmed, but you won't have a hot drink for as long as you would at a coffee shop.

2. Size. This machine is meant to be paired with a single-serve coffee machine. It makes enough milk/foam for a single cappuccino or a single latte. That means 1.5 oz of espresso and 5 or 6 oz. of milk. If you want to make drinks for more than one person at a time, or if you want to make the equivalent of a "Venti" latte, you may need more than one of these or a different machine (Froth Au Lait).

3. Cleanup is EASY. This is one of the most important features, IMO. All you do is rinse it out, wipe the bottom with a sponge, rinse again, and you're done. You can clean it while your Nespresso machine is pouring your...

Aeroccino is an unreliable gadget
When Aeroccino works, it works great. It is quick and quiet, and produces excellent foam. Clean up is very easy. But, there is something inherently unstable about Aeroccino machines. Since August, I managed to kill three of them and I am not sure why. Part of it is the nature of the machine: because it is constructed like a water kettle, one should not submerge it into water. But because it is designed to heat milk, the manufacturer allows putting it under running water as long as the bottom of the machine remains dry. If you get the bottom wet (and you will), the machine either trips (and heals itself after fully drying) or dies. I suspect, my first two Aeroccinos died such deaths. My third one died today. I frothed milk with it, refilled it and tried again (without cleaning in between) and the machine did not work. I tried again and it worked for 20 seconds and stopped. I tried again a couple hours later and it worked for 10 seconds and stopped. I am not sure why it is so, but...

so simple it's ridiculous
I have owned several different espresso makers from krups to capresso to nespresso. I have also had a capresso frother which I had to return because it didn't work. While I have enjoyed the coffee, I have always been "frothingly" challenged- except on the lower end krups- a fact I find mildly interesting. Anyway, this aeroccino is so simple as to make you wonder and the froth is perfect, as is the steamed milk. So far I have not run into the problems of it shorting out and neither has a friend who has also purchased one, but I am glad to know they will replace it. The greatest thing since sliced bread for the consumer who likes gadgets and is willing to pay for them

Hamilton Beach 2 SPEED HAND BLENDER

Thoroughly satisfied with this blender
I purchased one of these a few weeks ago and I am really enjoying it. It is fast, it doesn't splash and it is ridiculously easy to clean. It turns a banana, a handful of strawberries and some kefir into a perfectly blended smoothie in about 20 seconds with no mess.

I'd highly recommend it

Fine little mixer
This is a fine little mixer, but I'm returning it since I feel my hand-held blender with regular beaters does basically the same thing for my needs. I do love the case it comes in! Very handy. Also, if you mix drinks in a glass, this would be perfect. I don't though. I had to try it though. I make hummus a lot, and this just got stuck in the beans. It's more for soups, easy to mix shakes, etc.

GREAT BUY!
My previous hand blender did its job. But, because it was old and heavy, I felt it was about time to replace it. Having tried two different brands of blenders (which were returned because their description did not match their performance) I was a little skeptical before ordering this one. However, I was beautifully surprised not only when I received it (ahead of time and in a very convenient case) but after I used it! It's light, very easy to use & its two speeds are an excellent feature. I use it on soups and shakes, almost every day. I DO recommend this product to anyone considering buying it.

Oster 4901-003 Blender Blade with Gasket

Not a replacement, Poor substitute
This item was NOT as pictured, it is missing the metal washer on the top, and it rusted the first time I washed it. This is a poorly made piece of garbage that was not even worth the time to send it back.

Oster Blender Blade Assembly
The Oster Blender Blade Assembly I received started to to show some corrosion /oxidization -right ater the first day- at he top of the axle where it was probably hammered together instead of pressing it together. That part of the blade assembly is where the food is being blended and obviously this oxidization shows that the part used is of inferior quality and may further interact with food that enhances oxidization and interact with taste. The old part which started to leak after 4 years of use had no corrosion at all. They must have used the right steel material not just some steel covered low grade iron. I hope the manufacturer gets this message and they will upgrade to a better metal.

Mine came with a gasket/sealing ring
FWIW, I ordered this and it did come with the gasket/sealing ring.

GE GMR06AAZBB Spacemaker 5.7 Cu. Ft. Black Compact Refrigerator

Buy anything but this refridgerator
I bought this refridgerator after remodeling my basement and adding a bar, thinking it would be a perfect small fridge for that purpose. After about 6 months, I noticed the gasket around the door failed and the door was hanging open, substantially raising my electric bill. I decided to turn it off until I could fix the gasket. Once I turned it back on, it no longer got cold -- AT ALL. It would not even get a little cool--nothing!

There is not a lot to a refridgerator, so I think the compressor must have failed. Keep looking if you are consideraing a GE.

Defective compressor
I had one of these installed several years ago and it has the noisiest compressor I've ever heard. It still functions but the price implies it is a better quality product than it is.

Waring Commercial CTS1000 Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Conveyor Toaster, 120-volt

Great conveyor toaster
This is a very good toaster. The mouth is wide enough to allow artisan bread size slices to go through without getting stuck. It took me quite a bit of search to actually confirm that the width of the opening was the correct size for the breads I use. The 2" mentioned is the height not the width. This info would be very helpful in the description... It's been working great for us, very consistent toasting and fast enough.

MaxiMatic EHC-2055 Elite Cuisine 10-Cup Coffeemaker

Great Buy!
I had this coffee maker for over 2 years. The only reason I'm purchasing a second one is that I broke the carafe. Otherwise I would still be using my old one. I am really happy with this unit. It is small and compact, makes great coffee (I'm always getting complements)and it has other features that work for me. Some of the other reviewers complained that the coffee drips out onto the counter when pouring. I have found that if hold the top lid open with my thumb and then pour it does not drip.

almost perfect
I've had this for about a month. I love everything about it except that the coffee is not hot enough. Mr Coffee machines are hot enough (just to give an idea of what I think is hot enough). I love the size and I love how the part where you put the water in drains completely and no leftover steam water, so it's always clean and dry -- unlike all other machines I've tried which all scummed up after time and it was hard to clean in there. For some reason, the pot doesn't get hard water spots like all my other pots did. Sure wish it was hotter. . .

great coffee maker
This coffee maker has preformed very well. It even has its own nylon coffee filter. Which is great, I don't have to purchase coffee filters anymore. I recommend it to anyon

SMART CRUSHER® Premium Quality Herb Aluminum grinder + FREE POLLEN SCRAPPER

Awesome for the price
The only reasons this didn't get 5 stars are that the stash area is a bit small and I wish the magnet was stronger. Just keep a rubber band around it if you're taking it somewhere, I spilled greenery all over the inside of my purse. But you get what you pay for, and this is about 85% as awesome as the one my friend paid $40 for at a local head shop. Very great deal and highly recommended.

I know why it only costs $10
Well. For starters is this a good deal for 10 bucks? Yea for ten bucks it is. Onto the item. Comes as described. Magnet in mine is pretty strong. You can lift by just the lid and it does not seperate. Does an ok grinding job. Shreds the herb and doesn't get stuck, you know what I mean. But not all the herb goes through the holes into the next chamber. It has to do with the little gasket thing, it creates a thin place in between the holes and the spikes on the lid. And the herb tends to get in between it. Screen holes look a bit small. My screen had like a scratch along the wire in a loop, doesn't effect the operation. I've only done a couple grams through mine, and collected some pollen. Has some heft to it, but it still feels cheap.

So for ten bucks this is a good buy.

YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS
The is by far the best grinder for your dollar! Not sure why they don't sell these at head shops in Maine. All we have here are $50-60 grinders...none of which are any better than this one! I bought one for myself a few months ago, and since then, i've ordered three more for my friends! I recommend you get one! You will not be disappointed.

Mexican Sol Y Luna All Wood 8.5" Manual Tortilla Maker Press Wooden Handle and Body Simple Design Built to Last MADE IN MEXICO. for flower tortillas , corn tortillas , sugar pancakes (gorditas) and savory christmas crispiest (bunuelos).

Love it
Went to the famous Chef Tom Douglas Summer Camp and we learned to make hand made Tortilla's with a wooden press - so I was on the hunt to find the same or similar model and this is it! Perfect Tortilla's every press. Don't waste your time on the cast or metal ones they fall apart.

I like my tortilla press alot!
I like the look of the wood out on my counter. I like the fact that I can control the size of the tortilla, and it seems sturdy.

It works
Well we wanted to make homemade tortillas and ordered this press. I was afraid I would break the thing with a lot of pressure, but didn't. Masa was probably a little thick. Trial and error

ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY

Good and nice
I like the design of the kettle, it not heavy and easy to clean. I would recommended to my friends.

This worked well for 3 weeks.
Now it does not work at all. It is not an expensive enough item to make it worth the time and effort to return it, so I'll find another brand. I bought this on Amazon because it had 5 stars. I should have looked closer and realized there was only one review.

8 Cup Cordless Kettle

Simply Amazing
I bought this kettle because I wanted one that was all stainless steel on the inside. With some of the cheaper electric kettles, God only knows what chemicals are leaching out of the plastic and into the water you're about to drink. Many of the reviews of the plastic hot pots even mention the plastic smell of the water after you heat it. This is why I spent the extra thirty dollars to get one that was all stainless steel.

Regarding the construction, the kettle is double-walled stainless steel with an air gap or other insulation in between. This keeps the outside from getting hot during and after heating the water. Another nice feature is that there isn't an exposed heating element inside the kettle, so you don't have to worry about minerals building up on it. The cover is well designed. You press a button on the cover itself and it installs onto two pivot points at the top of the kettle. There is a button on the top of the handle that you can press to either lock...

THE BEST - NO PLASTIC WATER TASTE - ALL STAINLESS STEEL INSIDE
I love this kettle. You pour the water through a large opening made possible by an easily removable lid, into a completely seamless stainless steel kettle. The spout is wide and efficient. When you are holding the pot your hand doesn't touch the hot kettle because there is a plastic strip preventing burning. The only thing that people might prefer is a more visible line to determine "Max" level. I use my 4 qt measuring cup to pour the water. The water is boiled in about 3 minutes. The only thing I would like to see added to a kettle, which I haven't seen anywhere, is the ability to set it to go only to 180

Frigidaire Professional 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker

This one looks like it will hold up
We'd switched to a Breville BKC700XL Gourmet Single-Serve Coffeemaker with Iced-Beverage Function (which I was fortunate to review for Amazon Vine) because it seems like every drip coffee maker we buy quits on us within a few months. But we just can't afford the K-cups, and using our own coffee with the My K-cup setup has been really messy and time-consuming. (Don't get me wrong: I love coffee made with the Breville, but sometimes you just want decent coffee fast and lots of it. There's a little more bitterness with a drip maker than with K-cups, but that just makes the coffee seem stronger.)

Out of the box, it's clear that the Frigidaire Professional 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker is of a higher class than your typical plastic drip coffee makers. Its appearance is solid, sleek, and industrial-looking. This is the kind of coffee maker I'd...

Water Filters Can Be Found Elsewhere
Great looking coffee maker, and the brews taste good, too. For those of you wondering about replacement water filters, which appear to be unobtainable, the Cuisinart charcoal filters Cuisinart DCC-RWF *Triple Pack* Charcoal Water Filters; 1 Year Supply (6 total) are the same shape and size as the one that comes with the Frigidaire coffee maker. I just bought the coffee maker so I haven't used the replacement filters yet, but I ordered the Cuisinarts and compared them in-person, and they appear to be identical.

Worthy Contender
Have had numerous brands of coffee pots (Bunn, Cusinart, Mr. Coffee, Hamilton Beach) and this is one of the better ones. Attractive, nice features, real stainless steel exterior and a large clock. Also seems to be well constructed.

Just read one review where the reviewer listed 9 things she liked about this coffee pot and only one thing she didn't like...the fact that her carafe had a crack and as a result it leaked. Sorry to disagree with that reviewer's rating, but a cracked carafe is not a negative of this coffee maker, as a the coffee maker was not manufactured with a cracked carafe. This is a very nice coffee pot, reasonably priced and since I have been careful to not crack my carafe, I have no leaks or dripping when pouring a cup of coffee. This coffee maker does have an auto pause function.

This is a good coffee pot, at least thus far, and have no negatives to report. Would buy again.

Cuisinart CTK-SSTR Valor Tea Kettle, Stainless Steel

Attractive and functional
After many years of using a teapot that only had a spout opening for filling with water, I was thrilled to get the Cuisinart Valor Tea Kettle. It's nice to be able to see and clean the inside of the teapot when needed. The teapot has a nice brushed stainless steel finish. It's easy to fill with water and has a maximum fill line indicator on the outside of the teapot. The spout lever can be held open with your finger or you can press the lever all the way and the spout cover will remain open until you press the lever again. I was a little concerned about the manufacturer's instructions not to use the teapot on HIGH heat, but I have been using it on MEDIUM to MEDIUM-HIGH and it heats water to boiling within a few minutes on an electric stove. Yes, the teapot does whistle when the water is boiling, but it's a quiet whistle . . . not at all loud or obnoxious. I have no trouble hearing it from the next room, but probably wouldn't hear it if I were upstairs. The teapot pours without any...

Broken Within a Month
My previous tea kettle lasted more than ten years. This ones' handle broke within the first month - a total waste of money.

Rusted IMMEDIATELY
I bought this kettle because my old enameled kettle had started to rust inside and this one is supposedly stainless steel. We've had it less than two weeks, used it a few times and it has already started to rust along the bottom seam. Ridiculous. And, of course, I've thrown away the box (who would have thought a Cuisinart kettle would have to be returned?) so I can't even return it.

Brisker Elite

Why doesn't anyone talk about the Brisker? It's great.
We've been a brisker family for 25 years. It keeps crackers and chips crisp for weeks after the packages are opened. Everyone thinks we're crazy but we give each other Briskers on significant birthdays and anniversarys. What once may have been a cutting edge technological advance now seems a bit old-school but we love it and can't believe nobody ever talks about how cool these things are.

Brisker plus--new use
As a native of the Pacific Northwest, I don't live in a "humid" climate; but I certainly live in a damp one. After more than 15 years of using my Brisker for its original purpose, I realized it was the perfect instrument for preparing starter for our beloved salt rising bread. This is a very frail recipe--noted for its frequent failures in mid-creation. I have not lost a single batch, since I began proofing the starter in the Brisker. Sourdough lovers (and anyone who needs to ferment a starter), take note!
Everybody, look! I continue to find wonderful new uses for my Brisker. I live alone now but do like to vary my morning breakfast cereals. That means more packages of cereal and granolas than can be reasonably kept fresh on the cupboard shelf. Since writing the starter-proofing entry, I've begun keeping several of the cereals in the Brisker. They remain fresh as the day they were born. Try it!

The best Wedding, Christmas, Birthday Gift!
I have given a brisker to all of my relatives and friends that are cooks. There is nothing better for keeping crackers crisp and salt flowing, especially during the more humid months. I live in the mountains of North Georgia and only use my air conditioner a few weeks out of the year. However, I never have to worry about stale crackers, chips, or soggy salt. Purchase this item and you will not be sorry!

Capresso Coffee a la Carte Cup-to-Carafe Coffee and Tea Maker

A great coffee maker, better than my expectations!
I own or have owned MANY different coffee makers, always trying to find just the right one for my needs. I've tried just about every single cup maker on the market, couple different espresso makers, a couple different drip machines. I finally decided that what I primarily wanted was a single cup coffee maker but I also wanted the ability to make a full pot just every now and then. My wife drinks decaf, I drink regular and usually in the morning we'll both have just a cup. But we also have friends over pretty often so the ability to make a full pot was a necessity. My wife bought me a Breville YouBrew and initially I thought it was going to suit us great...with it's built in grinder and single cup or carafe modes. Unfortunately we went through 4 machines in 5 months...they just kept quitting for one reason or another. After the 4th one died I knew I had to give up on Breville and I started my search for the perfect coffee maker again.

Which led me to this...

Interesting concept; somewhat poor execution. Limited appeal.
Bottom line: While the overall concept of the machine is interesting, the execution is not all that impressive, especially for tea. It will fit the need of a few people, but for most there are better choices.

Full review:
I love coffee regardless of how it is brewed. So, I was really excited to be able to play with this new Capresso while I was staying at my sister's house (who got it for Christmas).

The overall concept of the machine is great - it allows you to brew one cup or a full carafe of coffee as well as tea. No need for pricy k-cups or pods - just plain old ground coffee.

It has a unique head system with two inserts: one for coffee; one for tea. Both are similar in styling in that they are, in essence, a screened cup that holds the grounds (or leaves) while hot water is dispensed from the pump. The coffee cup allows the shower screen (the part where the water comes out) to move on a spring and remain in contact with the grounds. That...

Excellent dual purpose system
Since I have only had this for a couple of days this review will serve two purposes. I will give my first impressions and address a couple of criticisms in other reviews. Keep in mind my solutions to the criticisms do not mean Capresso shouldn't fix the the issues, just that you can work around them.

The issue about tall cups not fitting is easily addressed by removing the metal grating and setting the cup down in plastic cup tray. I tried it this morning and it works fine. If you happen to have a cup that is wide enough so the handle won't fit down in the tray then you can put something down in the tray to raise the cup high enough so the handle won't interfere. As to having to brew a full carafe in that mode this is not strictly true. you can brew whatever amount you want into the carafe by simply watching it brew and then pressing the carafe button at the point you want to stop the brewing cycle. One other solution I haven't tried but suspect would work just fine is to...

Aroma ARC-1260F 20-Cup (Cooked) Rice Cooker and Food Steamer

Perfect rice every time!
Makes perfect fluffy rice everytime I use it! Great quality at a great price! A little bigger than I xpected (which is great) and its easy to transport and extremely cute as to me the pictures don't give it much justice. To the person who gave it a low rating saying it didn't last long and burned out: YOU SHOULD'VE DRIED THE BOWL BEFORE YOU PUT IT BACK INTO THE COOKER! If you put the bowl in while its wet of course its gonna burn out! That was more of a operator malfunction than a product malfunction. But over all this is a great buy and you're def getting your moneys worth!

jkl
I use the rice cooker/steamer everyday. Easy to clean and versatile. You can cook a whole meal in 30 minutes. Great for college dorms.

Exactly what I wanted!
I purchased this as a gift for my mom who absolutely loves to have rice ready for any meal. Normally, she would make instant rice but I thought that something less hands on would be easier for her and since it can makes such large quantities it seemed perfect.

This is easy to use and clean. The booklet tells you exactly how to measure out the rice and water and even how to adjust for brown and wild rice which can require more or less water. You can cook as little as 2 cups of rice which is great for me or 6 cups for my mom.

The rice stays nice and warm once finished cooking but does not over cook in this time.

There is a drip cup on the side of the cooker that catches all of the steam from cooking which keeps hands from getting burned. It also has a holder for the paddle on the side so everything stays close by while cooking.

The design of this is simple and elegant, working with our kitchen decor.

There is no 'OFF' button so you...

Black and Decker 5000-14 blender jar lid & center cap

Black and Decker Jar Lid
The lid fit perfectly, it was more than I expected. Delivery was quick and on time, I would recommended this to anyone.

Blender saved
This was a perfect fit. Saved me from having to replace my perfectly working blender just because I lost the top. What surprised me is that even though they said it would take a week to come, it showed up in two days!

Bought the wrong size, but appears to be of good quality
My wife asked me to order this lid for her. Turns out it was the wrong size.

I can't give it much of a review, other than to say that is seems to be of good quality and resembled our old one (before the wife decided to use the toaster oven with the lid on top).

Shipping was quick and well packaged.

Proctor Silex Cool-Wall Toaster

Sad story for Amazon's Proctor-Silex 2 slice toaster
Its Toast!! Less than one year after buying this appliance it stopped working entirely!
(June 2010 to 2011, RIP little guy)
Whatever happened to those good ole toasters that lasted forever? Are they really being replaced by more expensive units designed to break?
Hamilton Beach and Proctor-Silex used to be reputable brands that seemed proud of the products they made. What happened?

Love Mine
I must have bought other reviewer's toaster, refurbished. I picked it up at Kmart, where I never previously saw refurbished items. It was on sale for $9.01, and after just returning a Waring Pro that was quite costly, and only toasted one side at a time (in other words, it stunk), I thought I'd give this a try. Never had a toaster toast more evenly, and if it goes in a year,I got my $9 bucks worth.

Doesn't toast evenly on heavier breads
I like multi-grain breads. Toasts fine for ordinary white bread but not the heavier breads that I prefer. Donating toaster to next church yard sale

Oasis MIR301D-2 WHI Mirage Bottom Bottle Load Water Cooler with Option to Convert to Bottleless Cooler, White

So Far So Good
I don't often buy items that have no reviews, but I took a chance on this unit. I've only had this unit for a day, but I'll give my initial impressions so you guys at least have something to read before you buy.

UPDATE JUNE 8, 2013: Just wanted to let you know that the cooler is still going strong, and my review stands. As an aside, I bought "Premium Non-spill Bottle Caps - Quantity of 25" from Amazon, and I refill five-gallon bottles with filtered water from my sink (Aqua-Pure #APDW80/90) so no more Poland Spring deliveries.

UPDATE APRIL 26, 2013: After owning this unit for four months, we're still very happy with it.

First, packaging was very good. Might even be considered overkill. The unit was packed much like a refrigerator or large appliance, on a pallet-like bottom made of cardboard and styrofoam with a cardboard sleeve over the top, secured by plastic strapping. This container was packed into another box, with a heavy foam pad on both top and...

water cooler
The water distribution is OK. the hot water feature is nice. The problem I have with the unit is, it makes so much noise when pumping up water the whole unit vibrate so loud. That would be the one disappointing thing for me.

UPDATED 09/2013
Sept 30, 2013
The product was functioning wonderfully for a month or so, then it abruptly died...DIED. No hot, no cold, no pump, no water, a couple of blinking flashes as a warning, and BOOM, I was left with a $350 night light. The blue light at the water spout was the only thing that remained functioning. Called manufacturer again, and currently I am getting the run around for refund (...nice lady on the phone though). It is NOT amazon's fault. The product is clearly problematic, and I am surprised they continue to sell it. As of now, Oasis still hasn't resolved issue, BUT AS FOR REVIEW OF PRODUCT, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS ITEM.

August 2013:
I original bought in April 2013 through Amazon (free shipping). The company deemed my first water cooler defective once I finally reached someone by phone. I received my product replacement FINALLY from the manufacturer (not Amazon-my choice solely), although I believe waiting FOUR MONTHS is crazy! (not...

Breadman 20603 breadmaker paddle.

Did not fit
This paddle did not fit my Breadman TR444. Odd, given that the entire description of the product is: "Breadman 20603 paddle. Fits Breadman breadmaker models TR333 & TR444." We are returning it, which is a headache I did not need.

Breadman TR444 kneading Paddle
In website it is advertised as a paddle for breadman TR 444 breadmachine. I bought the product and it doesn't fit in the pan. Paid $16.00. When I called the Breadman service center they say that they don't manufacture this paddle anymore. Please if anyone knows a good solution for this post it. There is no point in sending it back to the seller paying for the shipping. I am disappointed.

It's in the Paddle
The Breadman 20603 breadmaker Paddle fit and works perfectly. We have had fresh made bread ever since I received it. Shipping was fast and transactions were hassel free.
