Now i know there was only one review when i bought this, and yes i bought it because of the price. But the thing is this unit works well. I love smoothies and that can be rather hard on a machine, in fact, my last blender stopped for a smoke and never came back to work. The thing you will notice first off, this thing make noise lots of it, i thought the neighbors were gona come over and ask about the racket i was making. oh, by the way, i figured i would take it easy on this blender by putting in the milk and then adding the ingredients after it is running even though the picture shows the pitcher full of different stuff, the way the blades are designed iam sure it will do what it need to do. also, i found the reverse option was a great idea..
The reason i gave it 4 stars, on the bottom there are four rubber pads that the machine rests on, one was missing, though i will make something to replace it, still should have been on it.

Excellent!
Wanted a blender for sauces and the occasional smoothie/treat. This is a tough little blender! I've used it several times per week since it arrived and it has risen to the challenge every time (ice, milkshakes, tomatoes, frozen fruit). Love that the blade unscrews from the pitcher for cleaning (parents had one when I was growing up that was all one piece and it was a nightmare to keep clean). Lots of speed options to choose from and the cord stores away nicely. Very, very pleased!

Update:
I was contacted by a Black & Decker representative and received a replacement; I didn't even have to send the old blender back. I'm really impressed, this is the highest level of customer service I've ever experienced. The new blender works fine and I must admit, after struggling with another low-quality blender (a different brand) for a couple of months, it's a relief to be able to use the B&D again.

Original review:

I was pleased with this blender while it worked; on the plus side:
- good capacity (6 cups)
- durable glass jar, easy to clean
- detachable blades, also easy to clean

On the not-so-great side:
- very, very noisy

However, for making smoothies this blender was ok; since I didn't pay much for it I figured it would be a good beginners' blender and worth the money IF it lasted a couple of years. But it didn't; after about 7 months since purchase and 3-4 months of daily use, it started leaking one...
